tala_hiding
[ mood | accomplished ]

Title: Blank White Page
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Erik, Christine, Raoul, eventual Erik/Christine
World: Modern-day/AU
Disclaimer: Elements based off Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera", specifically the 25th anniversary production, and Gaston Leroux's "Le fantome de l'opere". I make no money and neither am I writing for profit. I'm just playing in the sandbox. I promise to put them back where I found them when I'm done.

Summary: Erik, Christine, and Raoul start on a clean slate as they attend Cathedral College. Friendship, love, and music bind and twist their lives in ways that none of them could have ever imagined. Title is taken from Mumford & Sons' "Blank White Page", usually covered by Ramin Karimloo during his live performances. :) Six chapters and counting, updated regularly.

Heartbeat In The Darkness [27 Oct 2009|01:18pm]

musiquephan

Title: Heartbeat in the Darkness
Time Period: Picks up at the very end of the movie
Flavor: ALW
Pairing: Not what you think
Rating: PG-13-ish+ Reader discression for violence and language
Plot Synopsis: Love and luck are not always what they seem.

This is dedicated to our beautiful lourdesmontand her love of "icky bits." I wrote this story several years ago, but never posted it. She read the outline and adored the twists it took. I've been working on a manuscript so this story has been pretty much abandoned to my archives. Over the weekend, four of us LJers got together for a writer's reunion of sorts. I watched the expressions on my friends faces as I gave a light overview of this story and their eyes lit up at the same twist. So, here you go. The story is several years old. Not sure how regularly I will update the chapters, however, it will be a welcomed distraction to keep my muse entertained while working on my manuscript.

Hopefully, this community isn't dead and those who read will comment. Enjoy!

I really do need help, so if anyone has a link for this I would be extremely grateful!

A question of fan fiction [13 Aug 2009|01:58pm]

Curious question on my blog. What drives those who write to expand Leroux or Webber or.. anything for that matter? My reasons have to do with the law...   http://jenniferlinforth.blogspot.com

The Summons [25 Jun 2009|10:38am]

It has been some time since I've posted anything--I'm currently working on a manuscript for publication. The following was my 300-word entry for Jennifer Linforth's Gaston Leroux Birthday Drabble contest.

Although it didn't win, I'm still very proud of it and would like to share.

Drabble Criteria
* The theme of the drabble was "Celebration"
* Must be written a classic Phantom--not a modern re-write or alternate universe
* Must be no more than 300 words
* Must tell a complete story

(ALW-based/Rate for all audiences.) Enjoy!

Marble and Diamond: Chapter One [24 Jun 2009|01:12am]

Hello all!

I originally posted this story a few years ago under the pen name "Alaura Fairfield."  Back in those days, the story was entitled Warmth Beyond the Winter.  I recently read back over the story and decided that I wanted to make some changes, which led to a pretty major overhaul that is still in the works.  I hope you enjoy this version!

The following is my first attempt at writing in a very long time, so please bear with me. It is unbettaed and still in raw form, but I feel good enough about it to post it here.

There are lots of places authors find inspiration from, and as this is a Phantom fic the main source of my inspiration is obvious. However, there are several fanfic as well as published authors out there (you know who you are!) whose determination and faboulous stories have created for me an endless supply of inspiration and encouragement.

There is one person though who I feel deserves a dedication. It is her daily life that gives me inspiration to live mine, and it is her life that is a testament to the courage and determination of the human spirit. Lisa, this is for you.

PLEASE tell me what you think. I am open to any and all feedback, possitive or negative.
Hugs all around,

~PJ

A contest for fan-fiction writers and phantom lovers! Operagasm... this is your chance! [27 Apr 2009|08:28am]

Mods: Feel free to remove if I am unable to post this announcement for fan-fiction writers here!  Thanks!

Announcing THE GASTON LEROUX BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE DRABBLE CONTEST! In honor of the pending release of ABENDLIED: book two of The Madrigals, I am hosting a drabble contest. This is your chance to have your writing judged by professional writers for a chance to win a Phantom of the Opera themed gift basket along with a signed copy if MADRIGAL. In addition, several contest judges have offered signed copies of their books as well.

What is a drabble? A drabble is a story told in 100 words. No more, no less. Many times in the fan-fiction world drabbles are a bit longer. Knowing how restricting writing tight can be THE GASTON LEROUX BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE DRABBLE CONTEST will have an upper limit of 300 words. It does not have to be exactly 300 yet cannot go over the limit.  For detailed information,  visit my blog http://jenniferlinforth.blogspot.com and follow the link in the upper right corner for rules and the theme. Updates and announcements regarding the contest will be posted on the blog. The contest will open  12:01AM EDST on May 6th, 2009, Gaston Leroux’s birthday.

This is a great way to show off your writing skills and win lots of goodies! So sharpen those quills and start culling your words.

Also... I just did a post there on the role of the passive-aggressive in Leroux's Phantom! Enjoy!

"The Last Time" [20 Jan 2009|10:13pm]

Title: "The Last Time"
Fandom: Phantom of the Opera
Pairing: Erik/Christine
Rating: K
Disclaimer: Not mine...
A/N: This is a oneshot in Erik’s POV. It is basically the end of the Final Lair scene. But please keep in mind this is based on the STAGE musical, not the movie. There are BIG differences. Anyway this was inspired by and based on Hugh Panaro’s Final Lair performance. I took some liberties with the length, but there are not any dramatic changes. Like I said this is kind of in Erik’s point of view but the italics are his exact thoughts.

(Behind him he hears footsteps, and suddenly he is filled with hope when he turns around and sees her. He smiles because he holds onto that notion, the possibility she will stay with him.)

Story Summary: Anders de Chagny, youngest child of Raoul and Christine and Orla Herrin, youngest child of Erik and Tallis, are two lost souls who find each other. The choices their parents made in the past come back to haunt the present. Just as the choices the children make in the present will haunt the future. Do the families have the courage to get beyond a shared past, their shared nightmare, their shared mistakes to save the future? Do they have the strength to save the souls of their children even as they find forgiveness and redemption for their own?

Chapter Summary: Two mothers meet to decide the fate of their children. Parting with the knowledge they would have been friends in another lifetime, they inform the children of their decision.
